PALMETTO -- Investigators do not suspect foul play to be a factor in the death of a 55-year-old Palmetto man, the Palmetto Police Department reports.
Kenneth Payton’s body was discovered by the railroad tracks between 12th and 17th streets west at about 6 p.m. Friday after a pedestrian reported finding him on the ground, a media release said. Evidence at the scene indicated that he had not been there long before he was found.
Payton did not appear to be the victim of foul play, according to Lt. Scott Tyler, and investigators are working with the Medical Examiner’s Office to determine the cause of death.
