MANATEE -- Two people were robbed at gunpoint at a Sunoco gas station Thursday night, the sheriff’s office reports.
The victims were sitting in their vehicle in the 5900 block of 15th Street East at about 6 p.m. when two armed men entered the vehicle through the back doors, a media release said.
A male victim was hit on the head with a bat by one of the suspects after he snatched a gun that was pointed to his head out of the hand of another suspect, the sheriff’s office reports.
The victims were sitting in their vehicle in the 5900 block of 15th Street East at about 6 p.m. when two armed men entered the vehicle through the back doors, a media release said.

The suspects then fled the scene on foot without retrieving any money from the victims, the release said.
One of the suspects is described as 6 foot 2, skinny and was last seen wearing a white shirt and pants with a white ball cap, the release stated. The other suspect is said to be about 5 feet 5, 140 pounds and was last seen wearing a long-sleeved black shirt and black shorts.
