MANATEE -- A Manatee resident called 911 on Saturday morning after discovering two men taking a neighbor’s air-conditioning unit, the sheriff’s office reports.
The neighbor, who lives in the 5300 block of Third Street Court West, heard his dog barking at about 11 a.m., a media release said. He walked outside and saw the unit being stolen.
The neighbor got a vehicle tag number as the suspects fled.

By following up on the tag, deputies were able to interview a 34-year-old man who led them to arrest suspect Timothy Willoughby, 28, the release said.
According to the release, Willoughby was in the process of breaking down the A/C unit when deputies arrived; the remains of the unit were recovered and placed into evidence.
Deputies have another suspect in the case, but charges have yet to be filed against him, the release said.
