Home invasion suspect sought in Lakewood Ranch

Lakewood Ranch -- A man rang the doorbell at a home in Waters Edge Way Sunday evening and, when the resident answered, forced his way in and held the victim against his will, deputies reported Monday.

The suspect then ransacked the residence looking for personal items to take, according to a report. The suspect loaded the items into the resident’s vehicle and ordered the victim into the vehicle. The suspect eventually released the victim on the side of the road at Lorraine Road and University Parkway, deputies said.

The victim was treated at the scene for minor injuries. The vehicle was later recovered at Market Street and University, but it had been set on fire. The suspect is being sought on charges of home invasion, false imprisonment, grand theft auto and arson.

Anyone with information about a crime is asked to call the Manatee County Sheriff's Office at 941-747-3011 or Crime Stoppers at 866-634-TIPS (8477).
