Deputy kicked in head


MANATEE -- A  deputy dispatched to a restaurant in the 8200 block of Cooper Creek Boulevard late Thursday night was kicked in the head twice  while trying to place a person in his  police car. During the struggle, the suspect also kicked out the rear window of the car,  the Manatee County Sheriff's Office reports.

The person was being taken into custody after expressing suicidal thoughts, according to a sheriff's report.

Damage to the car was estimated at $1,500. The deputy was uninjured in the incident, which occurred about 11 p.m., the report said.

The suspect was taken into custody under the Baker Act.
