MANATEE -- A woman was bitten by a pit bull Wednesday and suffered a laceration on her left calf that required 29 stitches to close, according to the Manatee County Sheriff's Office.
The incident occurred in the 4900 block of 25th Street East in Bradenton at 6:15 p.m.
The victim was walking with a friend through the neighborhood when the pit bull and another smaller dog walked up to them with no other people or dog owners around, the women told a deputy with the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

The pit bull walked up to the victim and bit her on the left calf, causing a large cut, a report states.
The dog was taken by Manatee County Animal Services and will be kept for 11 days, according to the report.
